OUR STORY

How We Met

• June 2023 - Ryan sent a message to Thais on Instagram, noticing that they have a few friends in common. He also casually mentions that she has "a beautiful smile." From then on, Ryan and Thais begin to text each other back and forth over a long period of time, regularly learning more about each other.

• June 2024 - Ryan had made plans to visit Panama around this time, but then proceeds to let Thais know that the trip had to be cancelled because his passport was expired.

• November 2024 -  Thais tells Ryan that she is going to Florida to visit family, and he offers to help her explore more unique locations and activities in Florida. They begin to make plans.

• December 2024 - They speak on the phone and have a facetime conversation for the first time. He shares with her the same view he is having atop The Oasis in Austin, Texas.

• January 2025 - They meet for the first time in person on a Sabbath afternoon. They spent almost the entire month exploring and having adventures. The night before Thais was returning to Panama, Ryan decided to express his feelings towards her, and she shared the same sentiments towards him. 

• March 2025 - Ryan decided to finally go and visit Panama to see Thais again. On March 19th, he tells her that he would like to be in a relationship, and she agrees.

The rest, as they say, is history.

The Proposal

Planning a surprise proposal for somebody who doesn't live in the same country poses a set of unique challenges. Ryan knew she needed to have her family around, and that it had to be at the same place where they started their relationship.

Ryan spent a few weeks making the plans to travel to Panama and propose. He reached out to Thais' sister and her best friend, and they happily agreed to assist with the surprise. He traveled to Panama they day before, and spoke to both of her parents to ask for their blessing. The evening of the proposal, they went to the same place where Ryan had asked her to be his girlfriend, the "Valle Escondido Wellness Resort", and now asked for her hand in marriage. Without a second thought, she said yes.

For the final part of the surprise, ryan took her to her favorite restaurant, "The Rock", and as they entered, there were some her best friends and family waiting for them.

What's Next?

As of now, the future is not yet decided...but one this is for certain - Thais and her "Agripito" have been destined to be together, and they will become a blessing to others for many years to come.
